These are priced at £10 each to include a buffet supper. We will be holding the event in the Cwmfelin Club in Manselton, just down the road from the Community Centre. I went to see it last night - it's a superb venue, well kept and well used, with lovely staff. We will be in the large hall (holds 300!) which has a great dance floor and lots of seating.
As you know, my Risk Assessment for the Community Centre allows for me to have 24 people on the full floor. Therefore, it wasn't possible for me to hold the party in the Community Centre under current guidance regarding Covid. Although the rules are different for hospitality venues, I am confident that, with the numbers we are likely to see at the Xmas Party, we will still be Covid safe, as the hall is so large. However, as it has a bar and we will be having food, the rules are different and therefore, you will not need to wear masks into the venue or off the dancefloor.
We will be unable to provide a line dance artist at this cost however, but there will be some live entertainment (Clive is a pianist and singer), hopefully some party games (need to get myself organised for that!) and lots of dancing. The buffet menu is extensive, although at the moment it doesn't have any sweet stuff on it, but I will be in conversation with the club about that, as it was mentioned after the party in the Yacht Club. And I hope to be able to provide my famous mince pies!
I will open this event up to former members of the classes who are no longer able to come, so you will get to see some old friends or make some new ones. If you want to bring anyone, that's fine, you just need to purchase a ticket for them.
Because of the situation with the Risk Assessment, I will not be able to hold a Halloween Party this year, sorry.
Changes for New Members........
Due to the number of people booking a space for classes and either not turning up at all, or coming for only 1 or 2 lessons, I am introducing a pre-payment policy for new class members. Anyone who has not previously been to class will be required to pay for 6 classes up-front. This means that they will be showing a commitment to attending.
I didn't want to have to do this, but I have about 10 people who have requested a space and either never turned up or been to only a couple of classes and not been in touch to say they don't want to come anymore.
It might not look like it, but there is a certain amount of planning required to run each class and planning for new members who don't attend is quite frustrating, especially with all the Covid stuff I need to make them aware of prior to coming.
I am attending a couple of new classes myself (yoga and tap) and have to pre-pay for these and I know it makes me go, even when I don't necessarily feel like it. It also makes attending easier as there's no cash exchange within the class, but I don't want to go down the route of making everyone pay up-front, it's not fair on those who have a genuine reason not to attend (broken ankles for example!) It is particularly interesting to see that the new members I picked up in July, when we were pre-paying for 4 weeks at a time, have all continued to attend, whereas far fewer new members who have started since September (no pre-payment) have continued to attend on a regular basis.
This change of policy does not affect anyone who has already attended a class but comes into effect from today, so applies to anyone who has not been to a class prior to 28th October, whether they have booked a space already or not.
I hope to see some of you at the Wagon Wheel Roundup this weekend. Click here for more information. It's so exciting to finally have an event up and running again. Wonder how much I can remember...?!
See you soon
