Numbers were a bit down last week and I antiipate the same this week judging by the number of emails and texts I've had letting me know you're not going to be there, but we will have a ball anyway. Obviously, this is not a good week to miss when I'm coming back from a weekend away armed with 7 new dances! I won't teach them all this week, but we have a new dance for every class tonight.
There is a class next week and then I'm away for a couple of weeks.
Facebook reminded me that it is 3 years ago today that we were put into the first lockdown. We thought it might be for a couple of months (I know some people thought a couple of weeks....) but it turned out that my classes didn't return until July 2021, and then under tight restrictions. Whilst I try very hard to forget that terrible time, we do need to remember that such a short while ago, we were prevented from enjoying our hobby (and so many other things) and it reinforces to me that we need to take every opportunity to do the things we love while we can, who knows what tomorrow holds?
In that vein, it was with great sadness that I learned that the Samlet Club is now closed. We should have been there last night, but Chris and Julie made the decision last week to close with immediate effect. I don't know the reasons, but I can guess them. So again, use it or lose it. Unfortunately, that leaves us with very few places to line dance socially in Swansea. I will endeavour to find out if there are any other socials on, but those I'm aware of involve quite a bit of travelliing in the Cardiff direction.
However, the good news is that Luke is hosting an event in July - 2 full days of workshops and 2 evening socials. Details are on the Blue Topaz Line Dancing Facebook page and the events page on this site. You need to contact Luke for wristbands. Please don't leave it too late - do it now and get it in your diary. I will be teaching there, along with several other line dance instructors for the area and it looks to be a fab weekend.
See you soon!
