I had been asked in the last few weeks to go over Islands in the Stream and Day of the Dead with the Improver class, for those who are newer to dancing. Neither of these is an easy dance. Day of the Dead is classed as Intermediate, but it's not fast and has no full turns and only one tag/restart, so we gave it a go and you smashed it! Well done. You're also doing great with Islands, which does have a full turn (but we've taken it out for those who don't like to turn). Please try to stay for the whole hour of Improvers if you can, because I will be going over these dances for the next few weeks and if you miss one because you left before 8pm, you'll be playing catch-up the following week. I know it's tough learning harder dances, but it's worth it, I promise!
There will be no new dance in either Beginner or Improver this coming week so that we can consolidate what we've learned since January.
Intermediates did Whole Lotta Little this week, one of the Crystal Boot teaches, as well as re-capping Bittersweet Memory and Release Me, both old dances we've resurrected. The new dance is classed as Improver but as it is 32/34 counts, has 2 tags and is VERY nippy, I felt it was better placed with the more experienced dancers. If you want to learn it, you're welcome to stay after 8pm.
I've changed the layout of the "what we danced" page (under "more..." above) so that the most recent week is at the top, meaning you don't have to scroll to the bottom and I've colour coded the classes and there are now 3 columns instead of two, much more user-friendly.
Looking forward to seeing you all next week. Any questions/concerns please don't hesitate to give me a call.
