Apologies for not updating the site more regularly, there seemed to be little different to say in the long winter months.
However, I have noticed increased activity on both the website and the facebook page recently and had a few enquiries, so obviously, now is the time to update you.
Many of you will know that we sit here waiting for a major operation. We have been in self-isolation for more than 9 weeks now, but hopefully the end of that is in sight, as we have finally been given a date for the op, within the next few weeks.
Once that and any further self-isolation period post-op is over, then I would hope to return to classes, possibly at the beginning of July. Manselton Hall is re-opening next week and they are aware of the delay but kindly holding our space for us. Unfortunately, the slot on Tuesday evenings in The Hafod was taken up by another (non-line dancing) group last summer, as I wasn't in a position to return to that hall under the Covid restrictions we would have been operating under at that time.
To the best of my knowledge (it's a minefield as any of you running businesses will know) the rules regarding social distancing remain as they did for our (aborted) attempts at returning last summer. So I will be restricted to a maximum of 8 dancers per class with one instructor. (The other one won't be fit for line dancing for some months anyway). But that could all change, depending on whether the Welsh Government follow the English Government in preparing to abolish social distancing in June. And that could very much depend on the outcome of the elections this week as well.
Rest assured, if you expressed an interest in returning to classes last summer and completed the booking form, you will be given first priority in returning to classes as soon as I am able to do so.
Second refusal will then be given to any of my regular dancers who weren't in a position to book last year.
After that, any spaces available will be offered to any potential new members.
I would anticipate all levels of ability having some refresher classes to start, although some of you may well be returning to other classes ahead of me, so maybe it will only be me that needs the reminders!
If you are new to line dancing, or looking for a class in the meantime, I know that many of my colleagues are returning to teaching within the next couple of weeks. They are operating under restricted numbers and some of their venues are not yet open, so class numbers are limited and many fully booked. I suggest using the link to Everything Line Dance on the "Links" page of this site (or a Google search for Everything Line Dance) to find any other local classes.
Hoping to see you on the dance floor very soon!
